The Original PS5 Design Was Initially A Lot Bigger

Image
A common talking point about the PlayStation 5 is its massive size , so imagining an even bigger console is a tough concept to grasp. It turns out, the initial designs for the latest generation of gaming was originally a lot bigger than what we see now with the final product. An even bigger PS5? Can you even imagine the memes?  Sony's Senior Art Director Yujin Morisawa headed the design of the PlayStation 5 and in a recent interview, we not only learned about how nervous he was to reveal his work to the world, but also that the final product was actually a lot smaller than he had intended.  Speaking with The Washington Post, Morisawa revealed that he was "shaking" before the June reveal of the PlayStation 5 system, stating that "there was so much pressure" on him to knock it out of the park. The overt white display with the blue and black accents is a strong departure from the usual PlayStation look, much like how Xbox pivoting wildly with the Series X desig...

Players Can Transfer Spider-Man PS4 Saves To Spider-Man Remastered

Image
Marvel’s Spider-Man is a great game worth replaying but maybe you don’t want to start the upcoming Remaster from scratch. Never fear, because Insomniac announced on Twitter that players can export their Spider-Man save data from PlayStation 4 to the Remaster on PlayStation 5.  Insomniac says the update should arrive “around Thanksgiving.” That would be the week of November 26 for any non-Americans. Insomniac hasn't yet specified how the export process will work exactly. Since Spider-Man is backwards compatible on PS5, perhaps there will be an option to move save data from there.  For those wondering about Trophies, the Remaster has a separate Trophy list, meaning you can Platinum the game again. Whether or not those Trophies unlock instantly once your save data transfers over is unknown. The update will also bring Spider-Man Remastered’s three new suits into the original game: The Amazing Suit , Arachnid Rider, and Advanced Armored . Insomniac had...

Horizon Forbidden West Release Slated For Latter Half Of 2021

Image
Sony's latest YouTube trailer, "New Worlds To Explore," is a dazzling smorgasbord of PlayStation 5 exclusives and action-packed highlight reels. Miles Morales swings through a Manhattan battleground of sparks and fire as Alloy gazes at the holographic remnants of some ancient dragon. A Gran Turismo racer approaches their revved up vehicle, and Ratchet & Clank brace for impact against flashy explosions. With so many highly-anticipated PlayStation games on the horizon, it's only natural that Sony would eventually provide release date estimates (especially for the upcoming year). Beneath all that next-gen action - if you're paying attention and aren't appropriately distracted by the awesome visuals - is the small text that provides a bit more clarity as to when specific PlayStation titles will release. Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales and Demon's Souls are coming out on the PS5's launch day, November 12, but other games like Ratchet & Cl...

New Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Trailer Details PlayStation-Exclusive Content, Fans Aren't Happy

Image
Additional loadout slots, tier skips, and more are what PlayStation players have to look forward to in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Early access and unique skins have become the usual, but fans of the ongoing FPS series are not happy to see the exclusives for PS systems grow to include in-game actions that provide a performance advantage above other players.  What has been revealed as PlayStation exclusives comes by way of the latest Black Ops Cold War trailer, seen below:  Click here to watch embedded media In the video, Sony confirms that PlayStation 4 and 5 Black Ops Cold War players will enjoy two extra create-a-class slots, extra XP for weapons, exclusive double-XP events, and even extra ways to tier skip.  Sony also revealed the Battle Pass Bundle Bonus incentives for PlayStation players, which retails for $20, that allows for five additional tier skips, bringing the grand total to 25. Demon's Souls State Of Play Highlights The PlayStation 5 Remake

Image
A State of Play unveiled by Sony lets players take a good, long look at the upcoming Demon's Souls remake. As a launch title, Demon's Souls is available exclusively on the PlayStation 5 on November 12. That's Thursday. As in, this Thursday! This State of Play features creative director Gavin Moore, who we conducted a massive interview with just a little bit ago. Check that out here for information on Fractured Mode and more.  The video touches upon many aspects of the game over twelve minutes, showcasing plenty of footage and encounters. Get a taste of Boletaria, the Flamelurker battle, and finally — the Tower of Latria. Moore calls Flamelurker one of the most beloved of the Demon's Souls bosses, which I'm not sure I agree with, but hey maybe this time maybe most players won't trap him in the environment to squeeze out a victory. A haunting, byzantine dungeon crawl, the Tower of Latria is one of the most lauded locations in the Souls universe, a chilling plac...

Netflix's The Witcher Season 2 Production Stopped As Cast Tests COVID-19 Positive

Image
Earlier this year, a castmate for Netflix's The Witcher tested positive for COVID-19. That, and work from home orders mandated in order to control the spread of the virus, has caused production to halt for a certain amount of time. Though season 2's production has been going swimmingly, progress has once more been halted for Netflix's The Witcher to several confirmed COVID-19 cases.  The report comes by way of Deadline and did not specify which of the cast were affected, only that several members of both the cast and crew have tested positive. The report suggests that the main cast has not tested positive, though any test coming back with confirmation would require production to cease so that self-quarantines are doable. Filming will resume when the quarantine periods are done and the studio deems it safe for everyone to return.  Netflix's The Witcher season 2's first run-in with the virus. Back in March, Kristofer Hivju confirmed he had the latest iteration o...

Nolan North Reveals New Uncharted Movie Pictures, Tells Us A Little About Recent Visit

Image
Click to watch embedded media The man behind Nathan Drake himself, Nolan North, recently met Nolan North himself, Tom Holland, during a previous Uncharted movie set visit. Back in October, North shared a few images from his time on set and now we've got two new sneak peeks into the world of this adaptation.  Nolan North voiced the iconic PlayStation character for years and helped bring a beloved narrative to life by essentially becoming Nathan Drake.  Spider-Man's  Tom Holland will now be carrying on that torch into film playing a much younger Drake for an interesting origins-style tale about one of our favorite heroes.  Speaking with Game Informer, we just had to know what has him the most excited about the film, especially now that he's gotten to see some behind-the-scenes action. "I'm probably most excited to enjoy an Uncharted adventure as a fan just like everyone else," North tells us. "From what I've seen, they've really stayed true t...

Destiny 2 Is Ending Season Of Arrivals With One More Live Event Before Beyond Light

Image
Season of Arrivals in Destiny 2 is coming to a close ahead of the upcoming expansion Beyond Light. Out with the old and in with the new, but that doesn't mean we can't finish off the current season with a bang, and with a bang, it shall end with a new live event.  Upon the Almighty's destruction and the danger of Darkness ahead, Guardians have been curious about how Bungie will close out the current Season of Arrivals. Following an email leak that circulated previously, Bungie's Luke Smith has confirmed that a special event is going down.  The leaked email reads as follows:  Be sure to catch the finale of the Season and see the conclusion before Beyond Light releases. For more information on what is coming, read the new This Week at Bungie now." The email released before it was supposed to, obviously, which is something Luke Smith addressed in a recent tweet. "We have a small event to close out Season of Arrivals," he said. "We wanted it to be a...

Silent Hills P.T. Was On PS5 Before It Was Quickly Removed

Image
Click to watch embedded media When Konami canceled Hideo Kojima's Silent Hills P.T., horror fans were crushed. With the future of the horror franchise, as a whole, unclear, the unfinished experience remains a beloved treasure kept alive by many fan recreations and mods . With the new generation of systems upon us, many media with a PS5 system have reported that P.T. was available on the newest console only for it to quickly disappear back into obscurity once more. Or, at least it will remain in last-gen.  Because of its iconic placement in games, certain media members with review units were quick to see if P.T. would be playable on the new PS5 system. Though Sony has confirmed P.T. would not be backwards compatible, that didn't stop GamesRadar's Leon Hurley from making those dreams a reality anyway. Hurley reports that he was able to play the canceled project on the PS5 for the past several weeks only to see it abruptly shout down and removed from the store completely....

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Gets Two More Suits

Image
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, the next-gen re-release of the acclaimed 2018 title, has two more Spidey suits swinging its way. The remaster already sports several updates including the addition of Andrew Garfield’s suit from The Amazing Spider-Man film and a controversial redesign for Peter Parker.  Feast your eyes on the Arachnid Rider (above) and Armored Advanced suits (below). Before any comic fans rack their brains recalling which stories the outfits come from, Insomniac  confirmed they are original creations and will be unlockable in-game. The studio also states that the remaster’s three new suits will also come to the PS4 version of the game, though at an undetermined date.  You can never have too many Spidey outfits, and these look as good as anything else. The Arachnid Rider’s cel-shaded, anime-esque style is especially unique. Although, the Armored Advanced suit looks slick in how striking it is. As a Spider-Man nerd, let’s just say I am...

The Past, Present, And Future Of Riot Games' K-Pop Group K/DA

Image
When Riot Games debuted its augmented reality-fueled K-pop group K/DA to the world back in 2018 , League of Legends fans were curious to say the least. Since the group's debut song Pop/Stars, the musical squad has been fairly quiet outside of a few staggering track releases, but now that their full EP is out? The world is theirs for the taking. But how does a not-so-non-fictional pop sensation take over the world beyond just the League of Legends community? We spoke with Riot Games to find out.  Speaking with Riot Music Lead Toa Dunn and Creative Director of LoL Marketing Patrick Morales, we learned a lot about the motivations behind taking on the music world in this fashion and where the next step should lead.  The past  Riot Music Group creates music-driven experiences across numerous spaces in the Riot-verse, including the games themselves, entertainment mediums outside of working titles, and in the esports scene. When talking about the road leading up to K/DA...

Xbox Series X Exclusive The Medium Slips To A January Release

Image
The Medium captured our attention with its dual-reality presentation, in which players can simultaneously navigate the real world and its spirit-world counterpart. The fact that it's a console exclusive on Xbox Series X/S and not a generation-straddling game like many launch-window titles only added to the anticipation. While it was originally set for a December 10 release, developer Bloober Team has announced that it's getting pushed back a month into early next year. The Medium will now be arriving on Xbox Series X/S and PC on January 28, 2021. While the delay is disappointing, it's hard to argue with the reasons behind the decision. Lead game designer Wojciech Piejko issued the following statement: "After much careful thought and consideration, today we have made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Medium to January 28, 2021. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect development challenges across our industry, we at Bloober Team are committed ...

100 Thieves Is Joining Call Of Duty League As The Los Angeles Thieves

Image
Call of Duty League in 2021 is poised for a hot season of eSports with teams like Chicago Huntsmen, Atlanta Faze, and Minnesota Rokkr. Well, now the 100 Thieves are coming to the Call of Duty League as the Los Angeles Thieves. We’re coming home. @LAThieves @CODLeague https://t.co/Fx7aVCbc6A — 100 Thieves (@100Thieves) November 6, 2020 This is a stark contrast to a previous announcement in August 2019, where 100 Thieves CEO Matthew Haag, aka Nadeshot , took to Twitter to explain the situation between 100 Thieves and Call of Duty League. You can check that video out right here, but the expense of participating in the Call of Duty league was cited as one of the major issues as to why 100 Thieves did not participate in Call of Duty League in 2020. It is with a very heavy heart we announce that 100 Thieves will not be participating in competitive Call of Duty in 2020. pic.twitter.com/cdJD9DdUvQ — 100 Thieves (@100Thieves) August 29, 2019 "The fact of the matter is, the...

Image
With new consoles just around the corner, 2K Games and Visual Concepts are unveiling tons of features for the NBA 2K21 PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions. Today, a new Courtside Report introduced a new all-encompassing mode called MyNBA, which combines MyGM, MyLeague, and MyLeague Online. Yes, the franchise mode is being rebranded for the new generation, but it doesn't mean you're losing anything. "At its core, the name pretty much says it all – it’s your NBA, it’s your franchise mode, however you want to set it up," explained senior producer Dave Zdyrko in the latest Courtside Report. "The mode has every single feature that you know and love from the previous modes, all rolled up into one where you have full control over which ones you want to turn on and off." That's right, it's all up to how deep you want to go into the mode. When you boot it up, you get several easy-to-select options to determine how you want your franchise experience to go. Y...
